Thank you for including my post about the topic.
I think it's a fine line that hinges on use and intention. For example, would I ever commission a world-class artist for hundreds or thousands of dollars to make my Tuesday night D&D character's image? Certainly not. In the past I would search Google images for something that is close enough.
I think that is vastly different than someone prompting AI to use a single artist's style and using that work for profit. I think we need better protections in that scenario,
But I don't think we should throw the baby out with the bathwater. I have generated over 5,000 images, all for personal use, none of which I would have paid for. I do it mostly to scratch the itch of creative thoughts I have. What would it look like if someone painted an oil painting of a French street on a drab, gray and rainy day, with everyone holding bright pink umbrellas, with the Eiffel Tower in the distance? Well, now I know, it's beautiful, and it's hanging on my wall :)
I think democratizing artistic expression is a great advancement, but like all technological advancements, we need to put proper checks and balances in place.
Thank you again for including me, even if we have different takes.
Cheers.
